attRAct - Royal Academy of Arts

Every year, a new group of Year 12 art A-level students join this programme from schools around London. Bentley Wood send two students studying AS level Fine Art each year.

The RA programme offers students the opportunity of participating in workshops led by practicing artists, tours by Royal Academicians, mentoring with RA Schools students, and career sessions at the RA. These take place mostly on school days (not on the same day of the week), half-day and full-day, with a couple occurring on Saturdays. Students are expected to attend 10 events (about 3 per term) over the course of the year. This creates a vibrant, engaged community of young artists who learn about a ‘living’ arts organisation. Each student receives a Young Friends Membership for a year so they can return at any time to see the exhibitions for free with a guest.

The ‘best bits’ about the attRAct programme, courtesy of former attRAct students:

‘attRAct is such an amazing opportunity! It's given me so much confidence and understanding of all the options possible and I feel so lucky to have had this chance.’
